with Run The Jewels and Tove Styrke
After a sold-out first week of MELODRAMA WORLD TOUR dates in the UK, it was announced that rap duo RUN THE JEWELS will join the tour’s much-awaited North American leg as direct support for LORDE. The news arrives just after a hugely-successful launch when Lorde played to sold-out crowds across the UK, including an audience of over 10,000 fans at London’s Alexandra Palace.
Described by The Guardian as, “the sort of gig whose gaps are filled with screamed adulation,” and hailed as, “entrancing from first to last,” by the Manchester Evening News, Lorde’s Melodrama World Tour has already garnered overwhelming praise from critics, with Birmingham Mail declaring it, “a show that feels like a genuine privilege,” and The Independent crowning the performance simply as, “a perfect live show.”
Described by Rolling Stone as, “Hip Hop’s Most Intense Truth-Tellers,” Run the Jewels, the pair consisting of Killer Mike and El-P, will bring their high-energy live show to fans beginning March 1 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, the first of over 30 North American dates for Lorde. In addition to Run the Jewels’ direct support slot, TOVE STYRKE will join as a special guest opener for the first half of dates.
GRAMMY® Award-winning multiplatinum chart-dominating artist Lorde released her highly anticipated sophomore album, Melodrama via LAVA/Republic Records. To celebrate the release, Lorde announced her 2018 North American tour dates promoted by AEG Presents.
Ahead of the release, LORDE gave fans a preview of her second studio album, dropping four songs off Melodrama beginning with the release of lead single “Green Light” in March and follow-up tracks “Liability,” “Sober,” and current single “Perfect Places.” “Green Light” immediately launched the singer to the top worldwide trending topic on Facebook and Twitter, amassing an incredible 2 billion impressions on Twitter alone within its first 24 hours.
Rolling Stone praised her return single as, “a reflection of her own emerging adulthood” and The FADER declared the track, “a true pop anthem – made for both earbud strutting and the club”. Pitchfork naming “Green Light” and “Perfect Places” best new tracks. Billboard praised “Liability” as “an absolute jaw-dropper.” SPIN calling her latest release “Sober,” “the strangest, coolest Melodrama song yet,” with Pitchfork declaring the track, “intoxicating.” Listen to Melodrama here.
