Report: Lorde Tapping Duran Duran Singer, Charli XCX & Kanye West for "Mockingjay -- Part 1" Soundtrack

Lorde has said she's recruiting "young, fresh, unknown artists and legendary, epic musicians" to contribute songs to the soundtrack of the upcoming Hunger Games film, but a report claims some '80s music icons are in the mix, as well as Charli XCX. The New York Post's Page Six reports that Lorde is tapping Simon LeBon, the lead singer of '80s superstars Duran Duran, to create a track for the soundtrack of The Hunger Games -- Mockingjay Part 1, which she's curating.  She's also reportedly recruited Grace Jones, a model and singer who was famous in the '80s for her androgynous…

Katy Perry Won't "Pay to Play" the Super Bowl

Not long ago, the Wall Street Journal reported that the NFL had reached out to Coldplay, Rihanna and Katy Perry, asking them to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show this February, but there was a catch:  the NFL wanted those artists to pay for the privilege of landing the gig.  The exposure is so valuable, figures the NFL, that the artists wouldn't mind giving it a share of their future earnings in exchange.  Well,  Katy's now gone on record as saying that she's not interested in that particular deal. Appearing on ESPN's College GameDay in Oxford, Mississippi, on Saturday,…

Adam Levine Plays Freddie Mercury, Gets Hit by Truck on "Saturday Night Live"

Maroon 5 was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live this past weekend, but frontman Adam Levine also popped up in a couple of sketches. Adam first appeared in a sketch that featured host Sarah Silverman as the late Joan Rivers, appearing at a comedy roast in heaven, at a table with various dead celebrities, such as Lucille Ball, Richard Pryor and Steve Jobs.  Adam played Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of Queen, who died of AIDS in 1991.   He didn't have much to do, other than sing a snatch of "Bohemian Rhapsody" and sit there while Sarah, as Joan,…

Adele's "21" Poised to Reach 11 Million Mark in Sales

In a climate where albums struggle to sell a million copies, Adele's 21 just keeps on going...and going. Yahoo! Chart Watch says that by the end of Sunday, the Grammy-winner's 2011 album will hit the 11 million mark in U.S. sales.  That prediction is based on the fact that last week, the album's sales stood at 10,999,000, and it's been selling a steady 3,000 copies per week. Released in February of 2011, the album spent 24 weeks at #1 and produced three #1 hits: "Rolling in the Deep," "Someone Like You" and "Set Fire to the Rain."  It also won…

PETA: Maroon 5 Video Filled with Raw Meat & Animal Blood Doesn't Go Far Enough

Seems like everyone's got an opinion about Maroon 5's new video for "Animals," which shows Adam Levine stalking a woman, and hanging around -- literally -- in a meat locker filled with sides of beef while smearing blood on himself.  The latest to weigh in on the topic is People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, and surprisingly, they kinda like it. "Actually, we think Adam does a very convincing job of making slaughterers look deranged," says PETA Senior V.P. Lisa Lange in a statement to ABC News Radio.  The organization also says it loves Adam's wife, Behati Prinsloo, who…

Sarah Silverman Fishes for Compliments from Adam Levine in New "SNL" Promos

Maroon 5 returns to Saturday Night Live this weekend as the musical guest, and they've teamed up with host Sarah Silverman for a series of humorous promos. In the first, frontman Adam Levine tells Sarah, "We're such huge fans of your work."  To which she replies, "Aww, don't be nervous!  I'm just a person."  When Adam argues, "I'm not nervous," she replies, "No, you're nervous." "I'm not," Adam insists.  "Tell your face," she shoots back." In the second promo, the tables are turned, as Sarah tells Adam, "You are beautiful."  When he replies "Thank you!" she prompts him, "And....?," looking…
