The water levels along the Wolf River in the New London area are causing concerns now, and for the spring.
The National Weather Service has flood warnings in place for the river, in Outagamie and Waupaca counties.
Waupaca County Emergency Management Director Andrew Carlin says they usually don’t see much flooding, until the river level reaches 10 feet. He says typically they’re at five feet at this time of year, but they’re at nine right now.
Carlin says the marshes are already filling in, and freezing, and that’s unusual. He says it’s a concern for the spring thaw, because there won’t be anywhere for additional water to go.
Carlin says they’re working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to teach people how to property put sandbags around their homes.
