KAUKAUNA, Wis–The city of Kaukauna refers its municipal judge to the Wisconsin Judicial Commission for review of her conduct in office. According to a release from City Attorney Kevin Davidson, officials have concerns about two incidents involving Judge Carley Windorff.
In July of this year, Windorff allegedly appointed her sister to fill the municipal court clerk position without letting the Human Resources Director know it was an immediate family member. The appointment also violates the Wisconsin Supreme Court Code of Judicial Conduct.
On Wednesday of last week, Windorff posted to Facebook comments the city claims contained “explicit language that demeans and disparages authority, the judiciary, law enforcement, and government, and undermines public confidence that Windorff may be an impartial jurist”.
As an elected official, Windorff cannot be removed from the bench by the Kaukauna City Council–however, the Judicial Commission would have the power to do that.
