A weird phenomenon seems to be happening to many Taylor Swift fans who have gone to see her on the Eras tour… they don’t remember even being there. And it’s not because Taylor put us all in a love spell… or is it?
What in the witchcraft is going on here?!
Imagine spending thousands of dollars on Taylor Swift Eras tour tickets, only not to remember a single thing. That’s exactly what’s happening to scores of Swifties who are posting online that they can’t seem to remember parts or even ANY of the Taylor Swift Eras Tour. One could chalk that up to being too drunk or paying too much attention to your phone, but that’s pretty common sense, right?
Doctors think they know why: too much excitement.
That’s according to Ewan McNay, an associate professor in the psychology department at the State University of New York in Albany. He says,
“this is not a concert-specific phenomenon – it can happen any time you’re in a highly emotional state.”
Long story short: When the brain feels excitement, the brain’s stress levels increase, firing off all sorts of neurons, which makes it difficult to form new memories. It’s also your brain’s way of protecting you from remembering stressful situations. (BUT WHAT ABOUT THE GOOD ONES?!)
Stupid brain.
