UPDATE: The DNR says the fire burned an estimated 830 acres. Three homes and several other structures were also destroyed. The fire remains 99 percent contained as of Tuesday morning. Eight firefighters were treated for injuries and released. The department cites debris burning as the cause of the fire.

COLOMA, WI — A wildfire burns roughly 400 acres in Waushara County.
The so-called Pallet Fire began early Monday afternoon near Coloma and traveled northeast along Cumberland Avenue and north of Highway 21. It was 99 percent contained by about 9:40 p.m. Monday.
The DNR says a few evacuations were completed and a few structures were reported lost. However no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
