This is absolutely one of my favorite things ever. I mean, it’s totally sacrilegious to deface Star Wars like this, but it’s so horrible it’s incredible.
In 2003, the original Star Wars films were going to be broadcasted on local Chilean TV stations. It seems network execs really wanted to maximize their profits from advertisements, so instead of just… you know, charging MORE for commercials, they decided to do something even better: add commercials TO THE ACTUAL FILM.
Bold move, Cotton, let’s see if it pays off!
Around 2003 in Chile, when the original trilogy of Star Wars began airing on television there, they did this funny thing to avoid cutting to commercial breaks. They stitched the commercials into the films themselves. Here is one of them, with the English dub added in. pic.twitter.com/wC7N2vPNvv

HAHAHAHAHAHA. Brilliant. Seeing Obi-Wan dip into the cooler and pull out a cold one is legendary status. Of course Old Ben Kenobi likes to day drink and pound some beers with the boys! I wouldn’t expect anything less.
And of course, The Emporer likes to throw back Grandpa’s old cough medicine at literally any time of day.

I was a little surprised to see Luke Skywalker and Yoda rippin’ brewskis after Jedi training, but hey… Master Yoda knows what he’s talking about.
