Sports Illustrated’s 60th swimsuit issue features separate covers with Gayle King, Hunter McGrady, Chrissy Teigen, and Kate Upton. The 69-year-old King, in her first appearance, stressed the importance of the magazine celebrating “women of all ages, all colors, all sizes.” The annual issue, known for traditionally showcasing young, skinny women, has diversified by including older women, plus-size models, trans models, Paralympic athletes, and a woman in a burkini.
“You know, as a plus-size woman, I am all about representation but also, my biggest message is we’re so much more than our bodies,” McGrady said. The issue also includes group covers with past participants such as Christie Brinkley, Martha Stewart, Megan Rapinoe, Paulina Porizkova, and Tyra Banks. The magazine will be available on newsstands starting Friday. (UPI)
