Much of the Green Bay Blizzard talk this IFL season has centered around their defense, and for good reason. The Blizz has spent the majority of the season atop the League’s defensive ranking, amassing a 7-2 record entering Week 12 play. But a 64-point outpouring of offense Friday night, the latest in Green Bay’s assault on the League from under center, has put the entire IFL on notice.
The 64-36 drubbing of the visiting Quad City Steamwheelers marks the 4th consecutive victory for the Blizzard, who improved to 8-2 and maintained their hold on the top spot in the Eastern Conference. During this 4-game stretch, Green Bay is averaging 56.75 points-per-game, almost 10 points higher than their season average (46.8), and almost 3 points higher than the IFL’s PPG statistical leader, the Vegas Knight Hawks (53.9). Not to be outshone, the Blizzard D has allowed an average of just 34 points-per-game over that span.
There remains a large portion of 2024’s regular season to be played, six games to be exact, five of which will be played away from the Resch Center, so a great deal of uncertainty still hangs in the air. However, of this much we can be sure: the Green Blizzard is playing their most complete football in advance of a key road matchup against Massachusetts (6-3) on Saturday.
