If you’re a fan of Netflix’s You like I am, you’re going to be excited to hear that the final season has a premiere date, and it’ll be here before we know it.
The show is set to return with 10 episodes on April 24, promising another season full of stalking, thrills, and toxic “love.” The official description for Season 5 reads, “In the epic fifth and final season, Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) returns to New York to enjoy his happily ever after… until his perfect life is threatened by the ghosts of his past and his own dark desires.”
Per Netflix, in an interview with Tudum on the New York set in July, Penn Badgley talked about the show’s ability to make each new season “interesting and relevant.” He continued,
“And this season, I think somehow coming back to where it started allowed for it to just become grounded in the way that it needs to also have this kind of spectacular finish.”
If you’re unfamiliar with the show, You centers around Joe, a self-proclaimed hopeless romantic with a passion for books. Obsessed with finding “The One,” he’s willing to go to extreme lengths… even murder… to make it happen, no matter who stands in his way (including the women he claims to be in love with). Over the course of the series, he’s gone from New York in Season 1, to Los Angeles in Season 2, San Francisco in Season 3, and finally, to London in Season 4.
Netflix shared a teaser for the last season that you can watch below. In it, we see Joe back in Mooney’s bookstore reminiscing about all the crazy events that happened to bring him to this point. He says:
“Here we are, together again, back to where it began. A lot has happened these many years together. Identities, cities, loves… Complications. But all that led me here to now, to where I was always meant to be. And the one constant, the one thing that has always been there for me is you. You who have been there the whole time, and will be there with me ’til the end… Goodbye, you.”
AHHH! Cue the chills. This should be good.
