NEENAH, Wis. — A Neenah resident is credited with helping rescue two people from a fiery crash.
Police say a vehicle was traveling in the 1300 block of Gillingham Road when it went down an embankment and struck a tree around 9:40 p.m. Monday.
A neighbor who heard the crash used a fire extinguisher on the engine compartment, which was smoking, and helped the passenger out of the vehicle. The neighbor and a Winnebago County sheriff’s deputy then helped the driver out before the engine compartment became engulfed in flames.
The driver and passenger were taken to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries.
The cause of the crash has not been released.
