Menasha’s leader hopes the plans for the former Brin Building site will help bring more projects to the downtown area.
Developers want to put apartments and space for businesses at the corner of Main and Tayco streets.
Mayor Don Merkes thinks the project will set the tone for the downtown, and act as a gateway in the future. He also hopes it will spark more development to the west, along Water Street, all the way to the lock.
The $10 million proposal would be the second major development along Main Street in the past several years. Faith Technologies moved into a new headquarters on the east end of the street.
The Brin site would have two apartment buildings, and a third, smaller building near the water for a restaurant or other business.
